Excited to hear that Ba Be Lake is the largest natural freshwater lake in Vietnam and one of the hundred largest freshwater lakes in the world... but when arriving, Gieo Quang's first feeling was sadness when seeing the life of making a living combined with the many tourism services here. Before the end of a day of experience, besides the beautiful photo angles (Abum here), Gieo Quang's mind was reminded of the risks of damaging Ba Be Lake:
- People from everywhere migrate here to live, illegally exploiting natural resources, reducing the area of primary forests, negatively affecting the ecosystem.
- Nearly 4,000 people live in the villages of Pac Ngoi, Coc Toc, Bo Lu, Ban Cam, along with many tourist service motels with an increasing number of tourists staying... there will definitely be a large amount of domestic waste. Meanwhile, according to Gieo Quang's observation, the collection and treatment of waste has not been well managed.
- Wastewater from tourism service establishments in the area is mostly not treated to standards before being discharged into the environment.
- The motorboats that pick up and drop off guests here are still rudimentary and run on oil, so pollution from engine oil due to boat operation is obvious, especially in the dock area.
Although the relevant management agencies have also conducted inspection and control activities... the problems that Gieo Quang saw are still increasing, so what we do is not enough. Ba Be Lake needs to be protected more than that!
We hope that tourists and local people here will join hands to keep clean and protect a natural masterpiece like Ba Be Lake!
